Cabinet 23 May 2016 KDa Cabinet 26 May 2016 KD

Posted early May:

Residents recently received the Silchester east and west newsletter issue 2.  We were pleased to see this newsletter had options for non-english speaking residents to receive translations.

It says

“A report is being drafted for the Council’s Cabinet, which will be discussed at the Cabinet meeting on 26 May 2016 (not April as previously stated).  This will outline the work that has taken place so far, and the feedback from the local community. The report will also set out proposals for any further work and Cabinet will need to decide whether to go ahead.”

Residents have found this ambiguous as we were told there would be a council meeting to decide whether regeneration will go ahead or not by now.

Our ward Councillor Judith Blakeman has asked for clarification on our behalf and received the following response from RBKC Director of Housing.

Cllr Blakeman,

I am sorry that some residents haven’t found the newsletter to be clear about what the Council’s intentions are.

For the avoidance of doubt and to enable you to let residents know if they approach you, the Cabinet will be taking decision on what to do next based on results of the options appraisal and the public consultation. The decision will be to either to a) do no more work on the potential for regeneration, or b) do more detailed analysis on the viable options we have looked at so far and any new options highlighted but not explored in detail thus far.

If the Cabinet does take the decision to do more work on the potential for the redevelopment of the Silchester Estate it is not a decision to regenerate the estate as a lot more work needs to be done and information gathered before any such decision could be made.

Please do not hesitate to contact me should you require any further information.

LJ

We now wait for the feedback from the “Ask the Architects” events and hope the May cabinet meeting decision reflects what they have heard from us.
